Recommendation for the further treatment of Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo

Recommendation for the further treatment of Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, The link is the experts statement:

Following a consultation with Liu Xiaobo, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who is stricken by late-stage liver-cancer, liver cancer experts from Germany and the US verified that Liu’s cancer has already entered the terminal stage. During the consultation, Liu Xiaobo was conscious and clear-headed; communication was unhindered and he was able to use English to converse with the two foreign experts. He again expressed his desire to leave China for treatment, with Germany as his first choice and the US as another possible destination. Family members expressed agreement with this and sincerely hoped the authorities would grant approval.

This afternoon during the consultation, aside from the two US and German liver-cancer experts, participants also included Chinese doctors and experts, translators, Liu Xiaobo’s wife, Liu Xia, and her younger brother, Liu Hui.

He’ll soon be dead, but his final wish is still to come to Germany! I know his wish is to use the last moments of his life to see his wife and her younger brother safely delivered to free Germany.

Nearby my home is Germany’s best cemetery with a lake populated by waterfowl in the middle of it. He can be buried here and Liu Xia and me and my family can visit him often, and later, can even be buried here ourselves.

Please pass on our thanks for her efforts to Chancellor Merkel from my little girl, her mother and me. Yet I’d still like to know whether Liu Xiaobo’s final wish will be realized? Moreover, the US government has already declared the hope that the Chinese government will satisfy this desire of Liu Xiaobo and his family as quickly as possible for humanitarian reasons. The US government is willing to do all within its power, including dispatching a special plane to rescue Liu Xiaobo, Liu Xia and Liu Hui.

Germany? Now at this final juncture, we would like to know the results of the mediation between Madam Merkel and Xi Jinping.

Our whole family would like to see you all!!!

“Stones of Tiananmen” Review

On July 28, 2014, a full-length play, “Stones of Tiananmen” was stage read for the first time at the HBO building in NYC.  Written by Cynthia L Cooper and directed by Peggy Howard Chane, the play features the stories of China’s jailed Nobel Peace Laureate, Liu Xiaobo, his wife Liu Xia, “Mothers of Tiananmen” leader Professor Ding Zilin, and her husband Jiang Peiken, and their struggle against injustice in the Chinese government decades after the Tiananmen Massacre.

Women’s Rights in China (WRIC) founder/director, Jing Zhang went to see the play performed and this was her reaction: “I went to see the play not knowing what to expect. However, as soon as it started, I was surprised by how genuine and authentic the actors sounded.  Their voices were so full of emotion that if I closed my eyes, I couldn’t believe this was an act. The “Stones of Tiananmen” was so engaging and when I actually turned around to look at other people’s reactions I knew they felt the same. People in the audience were laughing and crying.”

“The play really reflects the political reality in China,” Jing explained. “The authoritarian government’s psychological torture of Liu Xiaobo and Liu Xia etc. indicates their hostility and fear towards democracy and freedom. It is a huge irony that an economic giant like China continues to detain a Nobel Peace Laureate.”

“From the Democracy Wall in 1979, to the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989, so many people have sacrificed their lives, lost their freedom,” Jing said. “Until today, the Tiananmen Mothers who have lost their children or husbands still cannot publicly mourn for their dead family. Gao Yu, a conscientious reporter who was a friend of Liu Xiaobo and Ding Zilin, fighting alongside them, was put into jail many times after the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre. In April this year, she was arrested as she exercised her freedom of speech, and hasn’t been released since. These fighters are the “Stones of Tiananmen”; their lives and freedom became stones, constructing a path for China towards democracy and freedom.” Jing thanked playwright C.L. Cooper and director Peggy Chane for recording this piece of history. It lets more people understand the huge costs that the modern Chinese have to pay when fighting for democracy and freedom.

The reading ended after 2 hours, and the audience applauded with excitement. Afterwards, WRIC founder Jing Zhang and USBIC Executive Director Ann Noonan exchanged opinions with the playwright and director.

Playwright C.L. Cooper is an author and investigative journalist who has written numerous novels, plays and articles about social justice and human rights, exposing corruption in both the American government and now, the Chinese. Peggy Howard Chane has directed and produced numerous works in television and previously directed a score of plays.

WRIC Held an Event in NYC “Hold on Liu Xia”

WRIC report / video                                        03-18-2014

Every March is Women’s History Month in the United States.

During this year’s Women’s History Month, the American NGO organization Women’s Rights in China co-hosted a solidarity event for Liu Xiaobo’s wife, Liu Xia, at the Museum of Tolerance in New York City on March 18 with the Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting, the Visual Artists Guild NYC.

Libby Liu, director of Radio Free Asia, Jing Zhang, founder and director of WRIC, and Ann Noonan, executive director of the CUSIB, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. They collectively appeal to the Chinese government to return Liu Xia to freedom as soon as possible.

Liu Xia, 53, is the wife of Chinese dissident and Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo. In 2008, Liu Xiaobo was arrested by the Chinese authorities for drafting “Charter 08”. In December 2009, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for inciting subversion of state power. After Liu Xiaobo won the award, Liu Xia has been under house arrest by the Chinese government for nearly three years. Jing Zhang said , “Liu Xia has become a symbol of silent resistance to power, and we stand with her.
